Week 14 Good, Bad, and Ugly

Week 14 was highlighted by the Chiefs getting fortunate again with their 3rd string kicker bouncing a game winning field goal off the upright and through for a 19-17 win over the Chargers. The quarterback situations of the awful teams, yes, I’m talking to you three, Jags, Raiders, and Giants plus I supposedly can throw the Jets in there and they are by far the most disappointing in a sense they have a Hall of Fame QB under center in Rodgers, who should consider being a QB coach after this year because IMO he can’t play consistently at a high level anymore. Anyway, here are the rest of my Good, Bad, and Ugly this week:

Good: The Bills-Rams game for being the highest scoring game of the season. The Rams get extra cool points for giving up six touchdowns, not having any takeaways, yet still winning the game 44-42. Honorable Mentions: San Francisco 49ers sending the Chicago Bears into hibernation with a great defensive performance, The Raiders getting three takeaways and Bowers being Bowers.

Bad: The kickers’ execution in critical situations in some of their close defeats. Other Noteworthy Mentions: Aidan O’Connell’s thought process when he threw that interception in the Buccaneers’ Red Zone (He threw the ball right to the defender! If I were still young I could have picked it off), The Detroit Lions, though they won vs. the Packers on TNF, looked out of sync defensively.

The Downright Ugly: The Quarterback play/Awful Luck with some of these dreadful teams. The Raiders have to have the worst luck in NFL history because it seems in crucial moments every call goes against them and they screw up assignment wise in big moments too. Quarterback wise, they are among four teams with no QBs except bad ones. The Giants, Raiders, Jaguars, and Jets are all looking for QB help starting in Free Agency, but something tells me that they’re all going to be let down during the 2025 season.
